With each child in a picture, it gets exponentially harder to get a good photo! This was the best one!
7 Months
This has been a month of many changes! You are really starting to babble a lot more now and experimenting with your tongue and mouth. You are getting back to your happy, smiley self! Although you still quite prefer attention and mostly want it from Mommy! I don’t get too much done these days, but that’s ok!
We go outside as much as we can, sometimes when you are sleeping and sometimes you come along. You love the kitties and puppies. You laugh when they lick your hands and face. We have to watch that you don’t pull the cat’s fur! You also love to touch the grass.
You can now sit independently. I still like to put a pillow behind you, but I’m able to sit you up and give you some toys and walk away and get a few things done now. You are ok with that for a little while until you plunk forward or backward! You learned to roll from tummy to back (finally) at the beginning of this month! And then at the end of the month you learned how to roll from back to tummy, which surprised me since you don’t like to be on your tummy. When you roll for yourself to your tummy, you are pretty excited about it though! You don’t get anywhere with your rolling yet because you just go back and forth, not round and round!
You are gradually getting better at sleeping. Your naps are usually an hour or more now. You still have 3 naps a day and are easy to put down. You still love to be in your sleep sac with your arms in. Nights are still hit and miss. If you wake up around 3, you will NOT go back to sleep without eating, we have found out. But earlier than that you can usually go back to sleep and if it’s after 4, I will feed you and you go right back to sleep. You are up between 7 and 8 in the morning depending on how the night went. I feed you 7 times a day; 8:00, 10:30, 1:30, 4:30, 7:30, 10:00, and 4:00am (times are very approximate). I started supplementing your bedtime feed with formula and you will drink it decently. You can put your soother in yourself now, but don’t during the night yet.
This month you got to start eating food!! After about a week you LOVED it, and then the next day you absolutely refused it. Weird! Later I suspected it was because you were sick with a sore throat (which Wren had later with similar symptoms). I thought you were teething, but no teeth came. Then we discovered you weren’t fond of the purees, and preferred chucks of meat, so we cut up pork roast, steak, chicken breast, and gave you chunks of avocado, and banana. Eventually you gave in to cereal, sweet potatoes and carrots although the meat is definitely your favourite! You also caught on to drinking from a sippy cup really quickly!
This month we went to Simonhouse Bible camp with the youth. We weren’t sure what kind of sleep and schedule we would have with you there, but it turned out pretty good! You were happy and slept decently well despite the chilly nights!
This month was also a month of much sickness in our household. Everyone had a turn to be sick and some had a couple turns. In general, I didn’t get much sleep, even though you seemed to be getting more than normal!
At your 6 month appointment, you were 18lbs 13oz and 67 cm long. I am worried you won’t fit into Wren’s summer wardrobe!
